Ive had dreams of the grim reaper and i am wondering if there's any insight to it?

Now i haven't a dream with one in years, but this has always bothered me. It used to happen quite often. The dreams that it would appear in where never related, nor had any specific mutual events... One time i remember enjoying a day at a pool, swimming with friends, i for whatever reason was heading to the washroom, walk around the corner and there it was. I don't recall feeling anything odd until i saw it. As soon as i did, a cold had fallen over me, i would freeze in place, as everything around me gets colder, i would wake up shortly after. Ive had these "sightings" in different places and times, i generally don't remember dreams, but i never forget these ones. Once was in an office building, i was getting into an elevator, and same situation. Another time working in the yard and heading into the garage. I normally cant remember anyone else in these dreams. And am just wondering if anyone can shed some light on this.

Now just some background, around the times id have these dreams, there where no scary movies or books. As either i didn't own a TV, or it was while i was in school (it happened a lot more when i was younger) i grew up not being allowed to watch TV. I grew up on an acreage, so wasn't really close to any crazy friends that may have scary stuff Any feedback would be great, thanks
