Masanao Maeda, corporate director for Sega, weighed in on the PLAYSTATION 3 sales situation, telling Reuters that "superior marketing and pricing strategy will be the key for Sony." In other words, Maeda probably feels that a price cut this year will help tepid PS3 sales. I don't want to be a Negative Nelly here, but when Sega is giving you advice on how to run your console business, you might want to start worrying.
Maeda also believes that his company's venture with Nintendo on Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games has the potential to be a number one hit and sell several million units. Given that Sonic the Hedgehog's popularity is at an all-time high and Olympic-themed games generally sell in the 5 million range minimum (note: figure completely fabricated) I'd say that Maeda is spot on with both predictions.
