samaritans are not jewish? another question why do samaritans are different to judaism? according to wikipedia the samaritans are similar to the jewish people in some places from middle east in their adn.
 
I believe the Samaritans where the people that where brought into Israel after the Babylonians conquered and exiled the Jews.

It was customary for the Babylonians to assimilate/blend cultures together. This blending would cause the people to lose national/ethnic pride and be easier to control.
 
Basically the only record of the schism is in the Bible Kings and Chronicles. When king Solomon died Israel split into two countries the king of the north, Israel, didn't want his people to go to the south, Judah, so he established changes and new places of worship in the name of YHVH to prevent them from being loyal to the king of Judah instead
