Let's hypothetically say that I'm Christian and I have found some errors (for the lack of a better word) with some aspects of Christian theology and that I feel that Christianity has unacceptable deviations from original Judaism.

But
1- From what I hear there's really no concept of hell in Judaism
2- God doesn't actually promise us any better protection on Earth just for being Jewish (or Christian for that matter).

So, what if I don't actually convert to Judaism? 1-3 years of study is a lot of work. Can someone give me a reasonable explanation, from the Jewish religion itself, why it matters or doesn't matter to officially convert?
@Eddie, I'm not asking if Jews expect gentiles to convert. I'm asking if the religion or God expects people to convert. Is it wrong to not officially convert? And no, I'm not a woman, so the kids issue wouldn't apply to me.
