Like many former NFL players, Jim McMahon is struggling from a brain-related condition. Specifically, the former quarterback for the Chicago Bears has early-stage dementia — which negatively effects his short-term memory and other aspects of his life.
In a recent interview, Jim McMahon said that if he had to do it over again, he would have just played baseball.
“That was my first love, was baseball, and had I had a scholarship to play baseball,” he said. “I probably would have played just baseball.”
That’s a surprising statement from a guy who got so famous — and remains famous to this day — for playing football. But then again, no amount of fame or fortune is worth permanently injuring your brain.
