Karate VS Aiki Ju Jutsu?

I used to do karate for a little while and earned my red belt. I then stopped doing it for a variety of reasons and haven't been back in months. I have been looking recently at Aiki Ju Jutsu because I am mainly looking at it for self defence nothing else. Would it be better for me to start Aiki Ju Jutsu than go back to karate? What do I need to start Aiki Ju Jutsu?

xD its all about HOW you use it and as my grand master says its beter to have one masterd technique than to have a thousand poor techniques
