He'll be off the ballot after one year, due to lack of votes. If Mickey Lolich and Bert Blyleven can't get in, no way he makes it. No Cy Youngs and completely folded when he played in New York. There are plenty of guys with comparable stats, and none are in the Hall.
Possibly. Not a first ballot type of guy but the bottom line is he posted quality career numbers and lets not forget the one factor that might tip the scales a bit for him...he won multiple gold gloves (5 to be exact) and along with Greg Maddox was considered among the greatest fielding pitchers in the game (and he was very tough to run on, also owns one of the best pickoff moves of all time and is the #1 all time pickoff artist at 93 career picks). I think it may take 5 or 6 tries (maybe more....he isnt exactly a media favorite) but ultimately I believe he has the numbers to get in.
Not a chance. He's never won a Cy Young award, never lead the league in wins, ERA, or strikeouts and has never been considered one of the best pitchers in the league at any point in his career.
However to his credit he does have 5 gold gloves and a world series.
If he gets over 300 wins he will make it. He probably won't make it right now though, tons of baseball players have over 200 wins haven't made the hall.
