As we know, with today’s high tech’s rapid developing, more and more novel and advanced things become possible for us. I don’t know whether are you confused about running out of storage space on your Apple ipod or iPhone due to the amount of music, videos and photos you have stored? If you are, then you might like to know about the recently announced Kingston Wi-Drive, a wireless, battery-powered storage solution designed exclusively for iOS devices, such as ipod, ipad etc.
The Wi-Drive is pocket-sized and uses flash memory to deliver 16GB and 32GB capacities. Wi-Drive is a wireless, portable flash drive that can transfer files to three different iOS devices within a 30 foot range. It definitely takes its design cues and form factor from the iPod touch, with rounded corners in a glossy case that measures 4.7″ by 2.4″ and only about 0.3″ thick. Like any USB flash device, the Wi-Drive does not discriminate between different file formats so you can carry everything from music, videos to office documents on one device, for example you can transfer music from ipod to computer drive as easy as abc. “It’s also a great companion for Windows users on iPads,” according to its website, “as it removes the frustration of using auto sync to view content.”
However, according to Zack Honig over at engadget.com, the Kingston Wi-Drive is strictly a content server. Although it enables you to move content off and transfer it back at a later time, it does not comes with a backup tool and according to Kingston, you shouldn’t expect one in the future either. In this case, if you want to copy or backup your ipod stuffs, you can use other tool such as ipod to computer transfer which is an all-in one backup tool for us to copy or transfer music or songs from ipod to computer.
Users can connect their iPhone, iPod Touch or ipad to the Kingston Wi-Drive – which serves as a Wi-FI access point – just like they would with any other hotspot, and then access content via a dedicated ios app. You can load the drive with photos, documents files and videos etc, by using the mini-USB cable included.
