The Los Angeles Lakers finally have a win during the 2012-13 basketball season. In the preseason, the Lakers were 0-8. In the regular season, they lost their first three games. For a team thought to be capable of winning the NBA championship, this was a shockingly bad start.
Then the Detroit Pistons came to town. The Lakers jumped on them early and then pounded Detroit on their way to a 108-79 victory. The Lakers were led by Dwight Howard’s 28 points, while Kobe Bryant chipped in with 15 points, eight assists and seven rebounds.
“We needed this bad,” admitted Lakers point guard Steve Blake, “just to change the mood and give us some of that feel-good feeling.”
The Lakers will try to make it two in a row on Wednesday night against the Utah Jazz. As far as the Pistons are concerned, they are 0-3 and are already looking forward to racking up the lottery balls.
