I have a broken laptop, it is a simple problem, a corrupt boot file, however, to restore the file I need to be able to boot from the CD/DVD drive, it is set to the first boot option in the BIOS, and when the laptop turns on, it has the flashing "_" (dash) in the top left corner, as though it is attempting to boot from the CD, and the drive is also spinning. However; about a minute later, it continues to try and boot windows. I've checked internally, the CD/DVD drive has no damage what so ever and all the connectors are nice and clean.

Any help would be appreciated...

Sounds like the computer is not recognizing the cd in the cd drive. I am no expert but I would try to re burn the fix cd with a slower burn rate? Couldn't hurt. Also, have you tried using a Flash drive instead of a CD? You could transfer the files of the CD to a usb flash drive and boot it up that way. Would just have to change the bios boot to the said usb port. < -- all of this is assuming you are reinstalling the OP.
