The Associated Press/San Jose Mercury News: A $15 million Medicare fraud case in California has ended as the last of 17 defendants was sentenced this week to 30 months in prison. "The U.S. attorney's office says Medicare patients at board and care homes throughout Southern California were given unnecessary respiratory tests. Doctors sometimes gave their patients soda, candy and cigarettes, then pocketed Medicare payments. Owners of the facilities were among those getting kickbacks.
