Ok me and my boyfriend bought a boat back in Jan. I paid for it, but the guy wrote a bill of sale to him. Now my (ex)boyfriend is in jail for domestic violence, for beating me and parole violation-and I am trying to get ahold of this guy about the boat since I have the title. Legally, can I get the boat since I tech paid for it, and it's not like he'll be needing it since he is going back to prison for a parole violation?
-I paid in cash
-I have the title, and it is in neither his name nor mine, the title was signed by the seller but not by the buyer (aka me)

As long as you have proof you bought it. Like a check with your name on it, the card used to purchase it in your name, or the contract agreement in your name. But since you have the title its yours anyway. Just dont go back to butthead.

No

It is your boyfriend's boat and in his name. No one is entitled to someone's stuff just because they went to jail. It's called stealing.
