LG Chocolate - 8500?

Well, my friend just gave me a red chocolate 8500 and im not sure if its real or not. He had it layin around so he gave it to me without a charger. It has a battery and everything. But idk if its real. I took out the battery, the battery looks real but the inside doesnt have a place for the sim card! all the buttons and everything are there. but im not sure if its real.

all ir is on the inside is the 4 hooks for the battery and a mall 3 millimeater by 5 milimeter opening. thats all. now than, is it real?
 
the LG Chocolate doesn't have a place for a sim card. Its a Verizon phone and Verizon doesn't use sim cards.
 
well:according to "Cell Phones & Plans it is very important
thing with LG AT&T products also T-mobile, Sprint has buy one
and get 2nd phone free when accuvated by consumer electronics
