LG Octane users?? How do you take out the battery?

I can NOT figure this out! It's a verizon wireless phone by the way.
Oh, and EVERY time I try to enter my messages, it restarts my phone, how do I prevent that?
Also when I try to update the software it says I can't because I'm in a call.. I'm not in a call.
