Looking for SW to convert avi/divx files to other format playable in a regular DVD?

Hi,

I have a few files that are of divx and avi format and can not be played in my regular DVD (it does not play divx files). Would anyone happen to know a software which would allow me to convert these files to the format that my DVD does know how to play (say mpeg?)
