If I declare two phantasmal bears(?) 2/2 to block a 4/4, can he and what happens if my opponent plays an ability from a goblin creature to "zap" me a couple points effectively killing my bears?

In other words...can he even do that? I declare blockers and he suddenly plays an ability to kill them, thus leaving the creature blocked (unless he has trample)? Basic question, but it's all so confusing!!

Hope it makes sense, thank you!
Now that I think about it, do I have this right? If the bears are killed this way, their damage still goes back against the creature attacking which makes the triggered abilities (with the intent of removing them before they can do damage) superfluous.

Is that right? The ability from the goblins wouldn't be needed as the 3 creatures (as stated) would kill each other as the damage is simultaneous?

If you are the target, it doesn't kill the bears. The bear itself must be targetted for its sacrifice ability to trigger.

Yes. In both the Declare Attackers and Declare Blockers Steps, each player gets priority to cast instants and activate abilities. This is perfectly legal.

No. If a creature does not exist at the Combat Damage Step, it deals no combat damage (similarly, if a creature without First Strike is killed by a creature with First Strike in the COmbat Damage Step, it still deals no combat damage.

Ok my friend if you are old enough to play magic please please for the love of god don't say zap... Also yes his creature is still blocked even if he has killed both of your bears. Imagine it this way. It is a target system. The attacking creature deals damage to its "target" which is always you. Blocking is changing that "target" to one of your creatures. If he kills your creature after it has already been "targeted" then the attacking creature has nothing to deal damage to. This may sound confusing but before you commentt on that read your question again and compare.

So if you have anymore questions like this email me at [email protected]

Also not a bad question it is an odd concept

And to your comment NO now you made it a stupid question. Email me
