Male Betta's in a community tank?

I have a 29 g. with 3 balloon mollies. I'm thinking my next addition might be a male betta.

What's your experience with Male Betta in a community tank? Who have they gotten along with and who haven't' they?

Should he be the last addition to the tank, or the next before a schoal of cardinals and maybe a few corys?
Do you quarantine a Betta? Or aren't they ok, since they've been alone in a cup for so long?

I wouldn't get a betta for a community tank they might eat away the other fishies fins until they can't swim anymore then they will die.
