So today when I was out driving my engine was making some strange noices when I started it up. It was a bit chilly last night so I was figuring it had to do something with that, but I don't know anything about car upkeep so what should I do? Should I bring my car in to get a check up on the engine or should I just leave it.

If you have the money to get a Maserati, go to a professional shop and get it looked at. This just make you look like you want people to think you have a Maserati.
LOL if you ever owned one you would not be asking this question, that car spends more time in the shop than your wife and girlfriends put together, this is a mechanics dream car, When its running good its a winner, when its not you are a whiner because it costs a grand everytime it goes to the shop minimum , this car would drive you into the poor house in six months.
