Have an '02 VW GTI VR6 6-speed with a re-occurring clutch issue. About a year ago the clutch seemed to be losing pressure and needed to be pushed further and further to the floor to dis-engage. A master cylinder was deemed the problem and replaced. It worked for about 9 months then the same problem cropped up. Garage deemed it a faulty part and replaced it. In a couple of weeks, it started acting up again. This time a new clutch was installed. Got the car home, (but thought the clutch felt funny) and the next day the car wouldn't move (clutch would not disengage) at all. Towed back to the shop. Any ideas? Thanks!

I say shotie shop.. find some where else to take it..
some shops just throw parts at car problems in stead of finding and fixing the actual problem. They may not have actually put in a new master cylinder and my have just rebuilt your original one...and charged you for a new one cost them like $5.00 in parts to overhaul it and charged you $50.+ for a new part. It should only need adjusting and nothing more. I would be worried if they were to tell you it needs another part. Tho it may need a slave cylinder. A slave cylinder would be the small part the moves the clutch lever at the transmission. That's the only part they may not have replaced..
It shouldn't cost you anything to readjust it.. should have been done right the first time..
your car is to new to be having those parts ware out...
good luck
Tim
