megane 2003 1.6 fuel consumption problem?

i have recently noticed that MPG on my speedometer is showing some funny measure
for example when i reset the trip control the MPG is reset it
MPG start from 10 mile per gallon and if i drive in the city it drop down to 8 mile or even 6 mile per gallon(it is not lambo)
but if i go to highway it will go up again to like 23 mile or 24 mile in motorway
that is to low ,because renault megane is claiming that megane II should give at least 32 MPG ,urban driving and about 50MPG in highway

i also want to add that point that whenever i stop in the traffic down the MPG will drop for example when i reset it it is 10mpg then if i stop at traffic light it will drop to 7 mpg

Thats something you are going to have to ask Renault. Take your Megane to a garage and they will plug it in to the diagnostics compter, which will pin point where the fault is.
It could be an engine fault resulting in the bad MPG, or it could be electrical causing the trip meter to go doolally.
