hi a 2005 benz S500 it reached the 80k mark and needs to be serviced. went to my local shop and they estimated it to be 700 dollars!
not including the things that need to be fixed they didnt inspect yet.

what im asking is, is it REALLY that much? how much did it take YOUR german car to get serviced at 80k?

Yeah, that sounds about right. Keep in mind that you are talking about a car that cost close to $100k when it was new. Catching things before they break completely is much less expensive than waiting until you are stuck on the side of the road!

When you think of all of the work that is going to be done, it's not all that expensive. Oil and filter change, brake fluid purge and change, coolant flush, and probably a transmission drain and fill, along with a comprehensive inspection of the car from bumper to bumper including the brakes, suspension, and everything else. Shop time on that is close to 8 hours, so $700 is not all that bad in the long run. Do note that the trans fluid won't be included in that price if it needs changing and it is VERY expensive. The engine oil and brake fluid should be included though, and maybe the coolant.
