It was 2008. My opinion is that he is still young and smoking pot would hinder his swimming abilities, NOT help him! I have been known to smoke and it is hard on your breathing (short of breath), lung capacity, cardio, and motivation. He should be given another Gold Medal for being able to do so well at the Olympics in spite of smoking pot! Love you Michael Phelps! Peace
