There has been so much drama going on lately within the family, including my parents kicking my brother out and him coming to stay with me to keep him out of a homeless shelter! And my husband and I have two daughters, our oldest is almost 3 and our youngest is 4 months old. We do not get any privacy as a family, which I feel is very important at this age in our daughter's lives. We would like to just get away from it all for a few days, no more than 3 nights away from home, and no more than 2 states away from where we live. We live in Southeastern Indiana, close to Cincinnati, Ohio. We don't just want a day trip, but not a whole week either. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated! Thanks!

We are looking for something age appropriate for our daughters, and don't want to spend a fortune!
We also are saving big theme parks like Disney world, Six flags, and Kings Island until the youngest is at least 3. Thanks :)

Well, I was going to suggest the Great Wolf Lodge in Mason, Ohio or even the one in Sandusky, Ohio, but they can get expensive..it all depends on the room you choose and how you spend your money. There are other indoor water park in the Ohio area though that aren't as expensive, you can google them, Ohio has tons. Columbus Zoo, Cincinnati Zoo, and Newport Aquarium are all in Ohio and within short distances of one another ( like an hour or so between). I've been to all of them and each are nice and "kid friendly". Not sure if amusement parks are your thing or not, but we take our 2 year old to Kings Island all the time and she loves it and has plenty to do (not to mention their water park is included in the admission and you can get in for 2 days for like $50 or you can chose to visit once for around $30 each..but these are only suggestions.

Were getting ready to head to Great Wolf Lodge and Kings Island, Mason Ohio and both are next door to one another. Were using this trip as a small family getaway as well..kind of like a pre-vacation.

It really depends on what you are looking to do.

The columbus zoo also has a water park and a small park with rides (I guess you could call it a small theme park) but it could be a great 2 or 3 day trip..one day at the zoo, the other cooling off at the water park.

What about the zoo or maybe camping? Are your daughters too old to go to a theme park?
