Mini Maglite bulb get burning hot?

There are some kits you can get to replace the standard bulb with a LED. It lasts a lot longer, the batteries last longer, and it doesn't get hot. I can't remember the brand name, but most sporting goods stores will have the kit.

I have a Mini Maglite, and the original bulb it comes with get very hot to the touch. Once i turn it on, it heats up and will burn your fingers if you touch it for too long.

Is this normal, or is something wrong?
