Mitsubishi eclipse battery keeps getting drained?

I have a mitsubishi eclipse (1994 if it matters) and I recently replaced the battery. The last battery I had was overdue, but what surprised me was the fact that even after the car had been on and I was driving for a while, the battery would still die after every stop I made, so I replaced it with a brand new gel cell battery... 2 weeks later the gel cell is dead. I used a trickle charge from a jump box I have and it is now working again. Something I noticed when putting it in though is that even though nothing is on in my car (no lights, no stereo, nothing...) wire still sparks when I touch it to the battery. I am not a mechanic but I don't think that it should spark, indicating electricity is being drawn, when nothing is on right? Any ideas on how I could fix this? (Temporarily I am just undoing my cable to the battery at night so it doesn't drain and go dead... I don't wanna have to do that forever.)
I checked my alternator and it seems to be working fine...

opon rare ocastions over manny years as a mech ive found that some time the alt will work just fine but once shut down it will draw power from the battier and try to run back woards even though your alt test good inorder to prove this you need to shut the eng off remove your alt belts and try turn your alt pully over if you find that it dose not turn freely then your diodes in the alt are bad and the alt needs replaced good luck with your problem
