A mate of mine test rode one and really liked it, I'm testing one soon. Out of the modern 600's I'd go for this out of preference. Triumph's are usually bullet proof, and this one looks lovely, lots of nice detail touches to appreciate close up too.

I'll be sticking with the SuperDuke though, I prefer twins and I'm getting lazy, big engines make life easier

I don't know the underlaying reasons for your accidents. You could always take a safety course and return to the bike. Never let a cager win like that. It would be like standing still during a tournment.

1st accident i was t-boned

2nd accident i was going round a roundabout when a car dashed into the side of me at 50mph

3rd accident a numpty pulled out of a junction into the side of me

i'll return to bikes one day, just want to buy a house with a garage so i can house a hog

The only thing that is making me hesitate is the wisdom of buying a bike at the start of a Melbourne winter...

Why would that be Zen? (does that sound like a line from some ban anime or what? ) Do you get snow that you have to worry about? Is it the cold? We certianly can help you with that.

I believe it felt more torquey than most 600's (you don't have to have 12000rpm showing to get anywhere), but of course it's all relative. I've had R1's, GSXR11's, Milles etc etc so it felt a bit flat in comparison on my up and down my road go, but in relation to it's class i think it would be the better road bike by far. I'll be able to tell you more when I've ridden it properly myself.

I also think it would be a better track bike for track day addicts. Let's face it, anyone who says they can get the best out of a litre bike on track is either lying or should be racing for a career. I'm old enough to have grown out of pi55ing contests and admit my 98 R1 was better than I will ever be. Where a racer wants revs to play with, a road rider on a track will go faster by having torque to surf, all other things being equal of course.

Either way, I don't think the Triumph could be a disappointment, unless you're deperate for the cubes only a bigger bike can offer.

Nordic, it can get cold enough in the hills around Melbourne to be wary of ice, and melbourne streets are filled with tram lines, nasty slippery things.
Though you are right, I am the only one out of my group game to ride in the wet, because I am the only one who has practised riding in the wet.

I am thinking along your lines Mitch, when I started looking at bikes, I was thinking, hmm, I want this feature, this this and this, and I didn't think I would be able to find them all in the one bike. So far I really like it. Bordering on lust!

Just remember to keep it slow and pratice, pratice, pratice everything and all the weird things you could imagine could happen. For instance; we have the road humps that are designed to prevent left turns into shopping areas or out of them. On my way home, which is when I fill up, there is one gas station with the best prices in town by about ten cents a gallon. Thus the reason I fill up at 23:00 when I'm on my way home. To get into and out of the place I get to pratice my "Riding over a Hazard". The cop who pulled me over once let me go because it was an original excuse, plus he rides and understands.



You must explain this Lust to us now that you've baited everyone.

Well, I put a deposit on it, it has to come from England. They are presale only in Australia, don't get it until August.
