Motorola Maxtrac 300 VHF Audio Problems?

Has anyone used Motorola Maxtrac 300 vhf for a repeater and used Echolink as your controller? Sounds like the Audio is over driven and I have all the soundcard sliders as low as possible. Do you think something in the radios need to be de-tuned? Thanks de KB7PDF ~Mitch,
