i have motorola phone tools and i have a usb cable but its not an official motorola usb cable. is there a way for me to use that cable and still transfer stuff? if so tell me how or something.

no. You can't 
I tried it with a cable I had... windows told me there was a problem with the hardware.
You just have to buy their cable. Check eBay. Those sell on there for really cheap.
