Motorola tablet vs. nook tablet?

I'm trying to decide on whether a motorola tablet family edition or nook tablet would be better for me. My primary reason for getting the tablet is for reading. I know they both have wifi but is the nook going to surf the internet as well as the motorola?
What's the real difference (I'm not very tech savvy, so please break it down in terms I can understand)

I would go with the Motorola tablet its better for surfing the web. I don't know about the reading part. I know the iPad does both very well.
