First of all - in this interview with Aaron (Two Face) Eckhart
http://screenrant.com/batman-3-bad-guy-update-niall-3600/
He says Harvey Dent is dead and that Heath Ledger actually signed up for another movie - which Nolan had planned out.

Then there's the rumor that was in Variety and Empire that an actor called Michael Emerson has been in talks with Warner Bros about The Riddler

Finally on IMDB Pro (not the normal IMDB) Nolan has two movies in development - one of which is an 'unknown title' due to start shooting in the fall of 09. Its highly unusual for a movie to be called 'unknown.'

The one about The Joker being in a sequel were probably true. I've heard that one a number of times going back before Ledger died.

Since I can't view IMDb Pro, I can't comment specifically about the two projects you mentioned. However, Christian Bale also has two projects in development that can only be viewed on IMDb Pro. Take that for what you like.

I don't know how common it is, but it's not rare for a director or actor of note to be attached to an unknown project. The listing could be based on something as simple as the actor (or their representative) making a comment to the effect of "...has a couple other projects in the pipeline, but I don't have any details at this time".

I'd say the Joker rumor is true - but that's probably been scrapped now that he's died (they won't bring in an new Joker).

And your link didn't work but I have a photo of Michael Emerson here...he looks a little old to play The Riddler, but Variety usually doesn't print anything that is simply hearsay. Here's Michael Emerson for those who are wondering
