My roommate is giving me her fish because she does not want to take care of them any more. She has a red tailed black shark, a weather loach, three zebra danios, and a harlequin rasbora. The tank they are currently in has not been cleaned in months... possibly almost a year. It is extremely dirty and there is a ton of algae. Instead of taking her old tank and trying to fix is and clean it, I decided to buy my own new tank. The tank has been set up for a few days now, and I just added the zebra danios and the harlequin rasbora because I know they are hardier fish and will probably deal with the dramatic change of conditions the best.

What I am wondering is when I should move the shark and the loach into the new tank?

The other tank is really, really dirty and smells bad, so we need to get rid of it as soon as possible, but I don't want to risk killing the shark by causing it too much stress. Please give me some suggestions on what to do. Thank you!
