yo, i jus picked up a Murray Adagio 12 Speed Racing Bike for $40 off of craigslist. I was wondering if anyone knows if this is a good bike or not since i cant find anything on it on google. Im planning on spiffing it up a bit. Anyone have an suggestions of typical upgrades to road bikes?

you would do well to not spend too much on this bike. There is no point in trying to make it lighter this thing is heavy for starters and 6 speed cassettes are dinosaurs...extinct. Of course for only $40 I wont say you did terrible on this one but this bike is well over 20 years old and a steel frame bike. The only reason I chime in on this question is someone recently brought one into the shop and it was less than desirable in condition and I told them to give it a proper burial....sorry but I call them as I see them. If you dont have to spend more than $50 to $70 to get this one road worthy then stop at that and ride it and call it good. I believe the Schwinn Co. made these and they were entry level in their day then. I wouldnt even consider it today but good luck with it anyway. NO upgrades to this one period!

It's basically the same thing as buying a Huffy, just with less support. They stopped making bikes more than a decade ago & now make lawnmowers.

You got it cheap enough that, if it doesn't need any work, you can use it till it falls apart. But if it needs any work, throw it away & put the money towards a new bike.

Sorry to give you the bad news.

I wouldn't spend much money on it. Replace the tires, brake pads, or cables as needed and just enjoy riding it.
