I was wondering, It's season 8 and we still haven't seen any contestants of Muslim and Middle eastern background on American Idol! This would be Americans of Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran and Arabic origin. I'm pretty sure Americans who originate from the forementioned origins are auditioning but somehow they aren't being allowed to move ahead and to be more visible.
If American Idol can have 2 indians/hindus on in 3 years both of whom were given the red carpet treatment to move in to top 10, why doesn't American Idol allow Muslims and/or Middle eastern contestants (who are collectively 1/5th of hummanity) in to the limelight? It would be a great boost to American Idol's popularity in the middle eastern countries and would send a message of hope to those people.. I have to say I am disappointed in American Idol and I hope Muslim/Middle eastern contestants will be seen and will be considered for top 10 positions in future American Idol episodes.
