...present state of arrested development? Is it even possible for people to become educated and rational enough to live without inventing some religious nonsense to compensate for their ignorance? If one religion is defeated, won’t the hordes of drooling, slack-jawed, knuckle-dragging, trailer park inhabiting religious retards just start believing in some other nonsense like Scientology or Mormonism?
 
I think I have found the place you would consider enlightened and advanced. Cuba has just the philosophy you describe. The government strongly discourages droolers. If you want to get ahead, be the most enthusiastic atheist on the block. There are no practicing Mormons or Scientologists to smile and ruin your day.
 
The more completely that organized religion is eradicated, the better off we'll all be and the more quickly the human race will progress scientifically, intellectually and socially.
But we're progressing even with the stunting influence of religion still prevalent in the mainstream of society. We'll get there eventually either way.
 
Well....yeah, actually. Organized religion is usually just rhetoric used to control the masses.
