yeah its making a nockin noise. my brother says it could be a lose screw that might have fallen in (dont ask how) through the air intake if thats true. where would it go? the knocking noise sounds louder on the right side...could it be one of the heads? the blazer has 200,000 miles on it....the oil pressure did not change. and it started making the noise when I slamed verry hard on the brakes once, it shut off and then I turned it back on and it was making the noise.

Usually a "knocking" noise is a rod or main bearing. The slamming on the brakes would not effect the engine at all. With 200,000 miles on the engine, it is worn which means either replace or overhaul. Anything that sucks down the intake can damage valves, head, piston or all three.

ah that may have free-d up that loose or lost nut or wing nut that holds down the air filter assmbly and thus got sucked into the intake and bent a valve and got smashed in the combustion chamber ie cylender not good so 1 you have oil in the motor ? and its not puking oil out of the oil pan or side of it ? if not i guess no ya didnt say but i dont know so here is one step and do it seperatly one at a time so you can not mix of confuse things here at one at a time and when done in that cylnder reverse it and put it back !! the way it was .... go to the side you know is banging start at the front of the motor closest too the radiator (its good to # the wire that goes to the spark plug hole one at a time ) you will start at the closest plug towrsd the radiator mark the wire w/ tape get a plud socket and ratchet 5/8 i think it may be larger . take out that plug see if its smashed you will know when you see it put it back and hook up the plug wire and go to the next and down the bank of cylenders on that side youll find it good luck
