A couple of times, my car has decided not to start. All of the lights (check engine, battery, etc) come on, as well as my outside lights. It has responded once to being jumped, but I don't know if it may be purely coincidental. Another day, it simply started a few hours later. Last night, it would not start, and when I returned today, it still would not. It usually clicks once but that is that, and it did not respond to jumping. I'm a commuter student, so my life is pretty contingent upon my car working... and I'm terribly terribly broke so I don't have much money to put into it. I'm not sure what this could be due to. And I don't understand a damn thing about cars, so other answers I have found left me confused. Does anyone know what this may be?

I also have this really awesome problem where one of my spark plugs just likes to pop completely out sometimes. Does anyone know if this may be related?
What do you mean by a boost? A jump?

Your first question could be many things. I'd get it to a shop and have it checked by a professional. Could be bad starter, corroded battery cable ends, corroded cables internally, bad battery, bad alternator, bad wiring, or an ignition switch problem. This is not a do it yourself job if you dont have the proper diagnostic equipment. As far as your second question, the threads in the head are junk. I'd put a heli-coil in it and sell it asap.

Having the spark plug leads jumping off wouldn't help but it sounds like you probably have a problem with your starter motor. Which you will probably need a auto electricain to check and be rebuilt if that is the case. If you can roll start it is most likely to be the starter motor.
