...password was and she forgot. . . ? She said I could uninstall Internet Explorer and then reinstall it and it will no longer have a password on it. I have uninstalled internet explorer 7 but it went back to IE6 and now I can't even find it in my Control Panel: Add Remove Hardware. How do I get this off of my computer so I can put it back on? Thank you!
The password was added because too many people were using my computer for non-work related purposes and she wanted to put a stop to it. The only options I have under control panels:add remove programs is Windows XP Service Pack 3; and Windows Backup Utility. I do not see anything with Windows Internet Explorer or IE6

click start> run, type> control. SHould bring up Control Panel
You can login as administrator and check if the internet works there.
Copy your files out from your user account. delete the name in c:\Documents and Settings\User Acount. Then Recreate the user

Hmm...sounds like uninstalling the Version 7 caused it to revert to IE6. You should be able to re-download IE7 from Microsoft's website.

By the way, who is this "boss?" If you quit it is his or her responsibility to restore your computer as it was, in my opinion. I don't know the situation, but why was your boss putting a password on your PC?
