my car brakes were making a shreeching sound so i had the breakes replaced pads...

...and discs ? but they are still making the same noise. i would to have expected some tention on the brake pedal with new brakes but it feels like nothing has beed done. how do i check
Thanks for your advice. what does it mean if there is black dust?
 
You Probably need to bleed the master cylinder, and the brake lines,for a firmer pedal. As for the noise they make a noise reduction solution you apply to the pads as you put them on, and even then you may hear some noise,disc breaks are some time prone to do that, the black dust is from brake useage, you might need to turn your rotors.
 
take it back 2 where u had it done and explain ur concerns it may be something really simple
 
the screeching has nothing to do with the brakes wearing out, it's the most common and easiest problem to solve, what the garage hasn't done is put copper slip grease on the back of the brake pad. as for the dust this is due to the pads wearing, the cheaper ones are worse, all pads need to be broken in by driving with very little pressure on the brake pedal so they get hot but don't over heat, it will make them stronger and last longer !
