I am driving 01 Dodge Intrepid with 85Kmi on it.From a month ago, my car had made clicking sound when I tried to start. After waiting 5 minutes, it started. One week ago, my car didn't start still with that clicking sound and bright head lights. I didn't check it went dim when I tried to start the engine. However, I could start it with jump and went to the mechanics and replaced the battery. It had ran great for 1 week. Yesterday, after a 2 day trip of 400 miles and overnight stay, it started with no problem. Drove it to the PO for 10 minutes. Turned it off for 5 min and tried to started it but it wouldn't. Tried a jump and it started OK. I drove directly to the mechanics and made an appoint on Monday. When I left my car idle to talk with the mechanic, it shut off. Jump started it again and on my way home, engine shut off while running and come back right away. I think it came back because it was running. At the next red light, it shut off again. What could it be the reason?

i'd put money on the fact that something is draining your battery, since it ran great for awhile once you replaced it...

It's probably your starter or your alternator. That clicking sound usually relates to one of those. ;/

Shite mechanic.....keep the bugger away from it.Alternater or bad earthing problem at a guess would need to see car for a possitive diagnosis.

Bad alternator.........i would also replace the battery if it's stock you should replace your battery every 4 years anyway......they don't last forever you know. Hope this helps.

If all problems were so easy to solve, there would be no need for technicians or auto shops. This could literally be thousands of things. You need to get it to a diag shop and pay to have it looked at. First thing is to check fuel pressure with a gauge, that very well maybe the problem of it stalling. As far as why you have to jump it, you have a bad battery, bad or loose cables, bad alternator etc....Mention this to the shop you take it to so they can check out the entire charging system at the same time.

Since you change your battery and it was OK for one week, then your electrical system is grounded and draining the juice of the battery. Take it to auto electric shop to analyze you problem.
