My Cousins dog just had puppies and she killed?

she had two of them and she killed one and attacked the other one and then she still has uppies in her tummyshe had about 8 more and now shes getting a c section. but sugar which is her name is such a loving dog shes a boxer and she is so loving and so is her mate which is also a boxer but what i wanna know if you guys couls help why did she kill the pups nd why wouldnt she have the other puppies?
 
I dont believe your "friend or cousin" should be breeding she does NOT know anything about it. Sometimes dog will eat their puppies because they sence something is wrong with them, like an illness and is perfectly normal for them to do so. But i dont think a mother will ever kill a puppy.
 
M GUESS IS Eclampsia.. Sudden drop in blood calcium. The vet should check her blood immediately. Aggression toward puppies is a sign as well as inability to push pups out. It is a life and death emergency. The blood calcium should be checked immediately.
 
She may not understand what is going on with her body. She may not have that maternal instinct. Perhaps there was something wrong with the puppies and she knew it. OR she just didn't want to be a mother and was jealous that the puppies would get more attention.
 
Maybe she was getting rid of the weak ones so the strong ones could survive and for the other puppies its possible that there were to many for her to push out and they all got stuck in the birth canal
 
Dead puppies + a C section. That's what's known as a 'double whammy.'

Get the dog spayed after this litter. She's not a fit mother and could easily do this again. Also, I seriously doubt she is a show dog and your cousin is obviously not a reputable, experienced, responsible breeder.

Tell him to be prepared to bottle feed around the clock if she's still hostile...

...which might be good for him because it will at least make him THINK about not breeding next time.
