My dad just stuck a bluetooth usb in one of my usb ports? WTF does it do?

Apparently its a BELKIN Model: F8T016. I've no bloody clue what this does. I looked it up and it's supposed to light up but it isn't.
However, when I plugged it into a different usb port, it lit up (My guess is that i have a broken usb port lel)

What does it do though? What information can this send?
He just decided to give this to me to put in my laptop for "aesthetics". I'm not thoroughly convinced.

USB ports are 1, 2, and 3 for a reason. 1 is oldest model and weakest, 2 can handle quit a bit more, and 3 is the latest greatest USB and can handle anything. You plugged it into USB 1.

I think those things are called USB Bluetooth Dongle. Your laptop does not have Bluetooth, but for $20 you can plug a Bluetooth Dongle into a USB port, and now your computer has Bluetooth capabilities and you can connected a Bluetooth wireless device to it like a mouse, phone, MP3 player, etc..... Good luck.

Basically he is recording all activity on your computer. Any files, pictures, texts, instant messages, emails, etc will now be send to him (likely to his phone or email).

And here's the kicker, you can unplug it if you want, but it will still send the data. Now that you have successfully activated the device (i.e. when it lit up), it is now forever paired with your computer, and as long as you have an internet connection he will be monitoring your usage.

Sounds like you better shape up really quick!
