I'm kinda bad at explaining by typing but here it goes.
I have a HUGE passion for video games(kinda hate to say it, but like a video game nerd/geek). I start playing games at the age of 2. Right now, I'm 14 years old. I only have 3-4 months of middle school, and 4 years of high school left. I am sticking to my plan to become a Video Game Designer. Hopefully one day, a Lead Game Designer(not to mention a very successful one too). I made this decision ever since I started to play games. I even start to write ideas for games, started to write the story for the games, and somewhat of script writing too. I want to get a couple questions answered.
1). Video Game Designer is a full job, right? Like its a specific job, right?
2) What classes should I take in High School to prepare myself?
3) What classes should I take in College to prepare myself for the Video Game Designer job?
4) Is NYU a good college to go to? I went to NYU campus one time with my older brother since he went there for undergraduate, and I loved it.
5) Is University of Washington(UW) also a good college to go to? I was born in Seattle and I love the city.
6) How do I get hired for a job in Video Game Designer?
7) I read a book about Video Game careers(written by the guy at penny arcade) and It said that there are like three "levels" to the Video Game Designer. Junior Designer, Senior Designer, and Lead Designer. Is this true? If so, what does each specific type do? How would I get the job of any of these?
8) I heard that getting a job in a company as a Video Game Designer isnt right off the bat job. What I mean is that when you apply for a job in a company, you cant instantly get a job as a Video Game Designer, is this true? What would be a good entry level?
9) Would getting a masters degree give me a higher chance of getting into a good company and getting a higher starter salary?
You dont have to answer all of these. Answer as much as you can. If your generous enough, you can add some more advice, info, etc if you would like. IT will be appreciated. Please is there anyone that can answers these question? I heard that there is a Video Game Designer around Yahoo Answers.
look, Im just trying to get some answers, not spam and rudeness, ok ?
