my delll inspiron 1300 laptop makes a highpitched whining noise and then shuts off.?

i don't want to get a new one i just want to fix tis one. if i turn the plug in the bak of the laptop the whining will stop, and the computer will stay on. i keep it plugged in at all times because the battery is dead and i use a cooling pad with it as it gets hot. can anyone help so this problem doest cost me thousands

that sound is might be either your fan dying or the battery batterys have been known to rupture in such a way that they give of a whistle before they catch fire be careful about leaving it plugged in just open your cover and see where the sound is coming from and replace will not cost you thousands just get stuff from staples
