whining this much, ok? My dog went in today to have surgery to repair his torn ACL. They did the surgery around 9 or 10 am. and they had us pick him up around 5:15 pm., so he didn't stay overnight. I'm having a lady who rehabilitates dogs with torn ACL's, write me a full schedule on how to rehabilitate him and what to expect in the coming couple of weeks, but she wasn't able to get to me today. From the moment we had him in the car, up until now (10:12 pm), he's been whining and crying, moaning and grunting. I understand he's in pain, but I just wanted to make sure that him doing it that much, is normal. He'll sleep for a while, then as soon as he's awake, he's crying. I can deal with it, other than it breaking my heart, but I want to know if it's normal, and if so, how long does that usually happen for? He's on 100 mg of Vetprofen and an Antibiotic. We take him back to the vet's tomorrow for a check-up, which I will ask them when we get there, but I'd like to know something now. And, does anyone have any suggestions on how to make him comfortable. I don't try to force him in a spot, I let him lay wherever and however he's comfortable, then I put his blanket on him...well...the shaved part of his leg, anyways. Lol. Also, we were told in the beginning that they were going to do the surgery the traditional way, with Ortho., but they're having us bring him back in 10-15 days to have his stitches removed...is that normal? I'm not 100% positive on if they did it Ortho. or not, i'll ask them tomorrow...I just didn't think there would be a lot of stitches if it was done that way. Also, his leg is wrapped up, almost to his hip. I appreciate everyone's answers.
Thank you in advance.
