My dog has a rash on his belly...?

I just discovered it this evening while i was bathing him and I am going to call the vet first thing ... Hes a chihuahua mix and the rash is a dark dark red almost brownish looking and its everywhere on his belly and the skin is like... flaking off. Does anyone have a clue on what this may be??

He could have laid down on some thing. Did you recently fertilize your lawn> Recently shampooed your carpet?

It may also be a food allergy. Any new food or treat you started giving him? There are lots of things to think about. Does he seem to be itching more? Keep an eye on him to see if he is scratching himself raw.

Allergies or rashes are hard to track down. Hopefully it is temporary and it will just go away in a couple of days. I would give you the standard answer and take him to the Vet.
