garden is it their fault for being there? we have a staffy he has probably killed 2 cats that dared enter our garden, the first only had 3 legs so was easy prey. Last night he killed another of our neighbours cats the one we called starey. Will he he now have a taste for the kill ? And should we get him put down ?

No you shouldn't put him down! All dogs have a natural instinct to chase cats, it's not like they want to chase them down and say hi. If the cats were on your property then the dog was not at fault, the cat was in his territory.

No, you can control a dog but you cannot control a cat. Instead of putting him down , take responsibility and take him for long walks everyday so he can release his pent up energy and train him.

When a dog sees a cat, if they are not properly trained it is easy for them to go into hunting mode.
Until he is trained always supervise him when he is outside, if he focuses on a cat nudge him in the butt to break his focus, say 'no' in a sharp tone and make him lie down until he is calm.

If it was on your property, then it's not your fault. But I think the dog might be a little aggressive. See if you can get it trained by a professional.

I used to love cats
now on some estates there are too many and are vermin
so your staffy is doing his job.
Look at all the birds the cats kill!
