My dog started staring at the heat vent 24/7?

My dog is 3 years old . Last week he just started staring at the heat vent all day.I thought maybe there was something down there so I took off the grate and looked. There is nothing there.I was thinking a mouse.But a mouse couldnt stay in the heat that long.
I even have to carry him outside to go potty. Then he runs back to the vent.
I can get up in the night and he will be awake staring down the vent.
Any idea why hes doing this now?

damn thats wird, maybe she can feel paranormal activity down there lol,jk. mine keeps whining and staring at the fan, she would only quit it when i turn it off
