My downstairs neighbor complains about every thing?

he complains about me walking in my apartment and not too long ago i was just searching for papers in my room and he bang'd on my floor for no reason. i feel like im being harrased and he constantly complaining to the land lord and building manager i live in nyc in the bronx borough. what can or should i do i have sent out letters stating that the man is mad and just has a very very low tolerance for noise and also needs to under stand that this apartment complex is not a private home. what can i do to fix this issues?

HE ALSO COMPLAINS ABOUT THE PEOPLE LIVING UNDER HIM AND ME I LIVE ABOVE HIM AND ALSO MY NEXT DOOR NEIGHBORS AND EVEN SOME WOMEN ACROSS THE HALL FROM HIM

If he complains about everyone, the landlord will know he's the one with the problem, not you.

Have everyone complain to the manager, and request that he be moved.

I would two things: 1) Encourage your other neighbors to also file a complaint with management about this neighbor. The more you 'pile on', the more your super will be pressured to do something about it 2) call the cops about the noise. It may seem petty, but they'll make a police report about it, and your super will receive a copy of it. This isn't something he'll want to deal with. The one thing I wouldn't do is confront your neighbor - do the two things above, and if neither one gets results, contact an attorney and have them look over your lease to see if there's a legal way to break it and move out.
