My earphones shocked my ear?

I was watching a movie on our portable dvd player in our living room. i had both of them in and i was covered up in a blanket. my mom went to grab the blanket and the right ear piece shocked my left ear (i wear the left one in my right ear to) it hurt so freaking bad i started bawling. it's been a while now but there's still this weird feeling in my ear and i'm kind of nervous to put my earphones back on. the volumn wasn't up that high, i could still hear the normal tv well. my mom's all worried about me now. should i wait a while till i put them back in? is the throbbing in my ear going to go down?
