My ex texts me just to tell me how pathetic I am and to not talk to him, why? ?

My ex 1. Texts me just to tell me I'm pathetic and not to bother him (totally confusing cause I don't talk to him?!) and constantly gets his friends to text me saying how immature I am. But heaven forbid my friends text him (which I don't know about and have asked them not to) he flips. What does this mean, and what should I do?
